Main Tera Hero has a decent Box Ofiice weekend
One expected an average opening of around 60 per cent for Main Tera Hero. While at an all-India level, footfalls were slightly lower than that, the collections were still good. Around Rs 20 crore came in over the weekend for the Balaji production. Of course the film deserved more, considering it’s a David Dhawan film. But as expected, cricket played a major spoilsport on Friday and Sunday, with India playing the semi-finals and finals of the T20 World Cup.
The word-of-mouth for the film has been positive. Also, it’s the only major release this week and there isn’t much competition from last week’s releases either. The film will have to do really well in the next few days since the coming Friday will see the arrival of Bhoothnath Returns, that stars Amitabh Bachchan. The biggest takeaway of Main Tera Hero is the emergence of a star in the form of Varun Dhawan. Jal, the other release of the week, was a non-starter from the word go. With reviews being largely mixed, the film won’t be able to salvage itself.
