ICC World T20 India vs South Africa: how weather, pitch, teams shape up
Mirpur: After witnessing a rain-hit semi-final on Thursday, Mirpur is set for another rain-interrupted semi-final between India vs South Africa. Here is how the weather, pitch and the teams shape up for today's game.
Weather:
The maximum temperature in Mirpur will be 34°C while the minimum temperature will be 22°C. The weather report for Friday indicates that there are 60 per cent chances of rain. And with a prediction of scattered thunderstorm, this game like the first semi-final between Sri Lanka and West Indies may not last for 40 overs.
Pitch:
The pitches in Bangladesh like most of the 22-yard streaks in the sub-continent favour the batsmen and slow and/or spin bowlers. The pitch at Mirpur won’t be much different. The chances of rain though would make pacers smile a bit more. If it rains, the freshened up pitch would make the swing bowlers’ job easier.
Teams:
Yuvraj Singh's fitness was a bit of worry. But Indian team management has confirmed his participation in the semi-final. While the spin duo of Mishra and Ashwin are certain to retain their places in the team, India are still undecided with who between Rahane and Dhawan and Mohit Sharma and Mohammad Shami would be in the playing XI. South Africa may bring in Aaron Phangiso in place of Hendricks.
India – Dhoni, Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Kohli, Yuvraj, Raina, Rahane, Jadeja, Ashwin, Mishra, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohit Sharma, Varun Aaron, Stuart Binny, Mohammad Shami.
South Africa – Faf du Plessis, Amla, Quinton de Kock, AB de Villiers, Duminy, Miller, Albie Morkel, Tahir, Steyn, Parnell, Morne Morkel, Hendricks, Behardien, Tsotsobe, Phangiso.
