Mumbai: From 'Mumbai millionaires' to the poor and drowntrodden, in less that 3 days, the country will go to vote in nine phases over five weeks.
According to the Economist, what is clear is that the country has seen the Congress in power for almost a decade and have enough reasons not to want them back – growth has fallen, reforms ignored, issues with roads and electricity persist, corruption and scams.
This puts the Bhartiya Janata Party at an advantage as the citizens of the country look for a change. Going by the performance, Narendra Modi has proved himself with the economic development he has set in Gujarat as the chief minister. On the contrary, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is still unsure of the future plan of action, according to the Economist.

However, performance at a state level is different from running a government at the centre. Though there is much to admire, according to the Economist, Modi as the country’s highest office bearer is unimaginable. “India deserves better,” they say.
