Assembly Polls 2014: Asaduddin Owaisi confident of 3rd win
Hyderabad: All India Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen president and sitting MP of Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday filed his nomination papers from the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency, seeking a third consecutive term.
He submitted his nomination papers to M.K. Meena, Hyderabad collector and returning officer. Mr Owaisi, who was first elected from Hyderabad in 2004, retained the seat in the 2009 elections.
Talking to the media after filing the papers, Mr Owaisi was confident of winning with an impressive victory from Hyderabad for the third time.
The sitting Hyderabad MP said that his aim was to further develop Hyderabad and make it an attractive destination for foreign investments.
While denying that his party was entering into an electoral alliance or understanding with any political party, he said, “As always, MIM will fight the elections alone”.
Maintaining that Hyderabad seat is the voice of the oppressed people, he said the party has always played an important role in preventing the nefarious designs of communal forces.
Refuting Bharatiya Janata Party’s statements that it will emerge victorious this time, the sitting Hyderabad MP said that the saffron party is still in search of a candidate to field against him.
