Succumbing to pressure?
Vijay Sethupathi asserts he doesn’t feel pressurised to glam up his avatar

Chennai: He’s the average guy next door, the new-age Tamil ‘hero’ whose rustic looks and down-to-earth charm have catapulted him to stardom.
Who else could we be talking about? Vijay Sethupathi! However, it looks like the actor could have abandoned his much-adored unkempt looks and opted for an urban, classy new avatar in his next film, Mellisai.
The first look of the film revealed Sethupathi with a cool new haircut and sporting a trimmed beard, looking quite different from how we are accustomed to seeing him.
But he’s rubbishing it all. “Of course not! It’s the same old boring face, with a slightly new haircut,” he laughs. “I’m never one to make a fashion statement. Trust me, I’m not giving in to pressure to change my look or anything like that,” shrugs the actor.
On the film though, he says it depicts the illusion of privacy in today’s world, and how we shouldn’t take anything for granted. “It’s a very interesting plot that focusses on the dangerous realities of living in a modern-day city, and how not a single movement of ours could be private,” Vijay explains.
The film will also see him pair up with his Nadavula Konjam Pakatha Kanom co-star, Gayathri again. More ‘ppppaaaaaaah!’ moments to come?
