Hyderabad: A division bench comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar of the AP High Court on Tuesday directed the AP State Election Commission to declare the results of municipalities and municipal corporations on April 9, after counting the votes on that day. The municipal polls are scheduled for April 2.
The petitioners are likely to move the apex court against the order as they have sought for the results to be released after May 7.
The bench was dealing with two PILs, by Bukya Saida and three others, and V. Venkateswara Rao, contending that the ann-ouncement of results of civic bodies will influence voting in the Lok Sabha and AP State Legislative Assembly elections.
