BSE Sensex touches new life high above 22,500

Sensex is up by 0.32% and Nifty gains 0.3 %

Mumbai: BSE Sensex hit a record high for an eighth consecutive session, as potential bank licence candidates such as IDFC Ltd surge after the Election Commission allowed the Reserve Bank of India to announce new bank licences before the outcome of general elections set to conclude soon.

BSE Sensex is up 0.32 per cent after earlier rising as much as 0.65 per cent to an all-time high of 22,592.10. Nifty gained by 0.3 per cent, after earlier gaining 0.63 per cent to a record high of 6,763.50.

IDFC Ltd surges 4.3 percent and LIC Housing Finance is up by 2.6 per cent. Among blue chip stocks, ICICI Bank Ltd gains 1.6 per cent, while Tata Motors Ltd is up by 1.2 per cent.

‘Overseas investors bought Indian shares worth 3.85 billion rupees on Tuesday,’ as per the provisional exchange data.
