Vivek,Vinod leave Telengana Rashtriya Samiti, join Congress
Hyderabad: Peddapalli MP G. Vivek who had been with the TRS since the last eight months joined the Congress again on Monday as the Congress had ‘granted’ Telangana state. Along with him his elder brother G. Vinod, also joined the Congress on Monday in the presence of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
Mr Vivek along with Manda Jagannadham, the MP representing Nagarkurnool, had quit the Congress in June 2013, and had joined the TRS saying that the Congress had not moved an inch in granting Telangana.
However, there was pressure on the Vivek brothers from the Congress high command ever since the CWC declared support for the creation of a Telangana state, but the brothers were not willing to come back. But due to continuous pressure from Congress veteran G. Venkataswamy the brothers decided to join the Congress finally.
“We thought Mr Rao would merge the TRS with Congress after formation of Telengana state, but he did not do it. We left the Congress for Telangana. Now there is no meaning in continuing in the TRS,” Mr Vivek said.
With Vivek brothers joining the Congress, it is expected that the Peddapalli LS seat will be offered to Vivek and Chennur Assembly seat to Vinod. However, there is likely to be a hitch with Peddapalli Congress leaders due to the equations there. Notable among this is Manthani MLA D. Sridhar Babu encouraging a group opposing the Vivek brothers.
