Narendra Modi rakes up marines issue
Guwahati: A day after Congress president Sonia Gandhi had hit BJP’s “drum of patriotism”, the party’s Prime Ministerial Candidate Narendra Modi said, it is high time for the “matashree” to come clean of Italian marines case.
Addressing four election meetings three in Assam and one at Itanagar he said, “Since you have challenged our patriotism, we want to know the address of the jail in which the two marines have been kept. They can’t receive different treatment after killing two fishermen of Kerala, just because they are from Italy,” said Mr Modi at Itanagar on Monday adding, “If SC had not pulled up the Italian embassy, they would have never returned.”
Referring to Mrs Gandhi and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, he said, “The shahzada and his matashree are just concerned about being in power. When they can forget you, why should you remember them?”
Harping on the plaguing local issues like indiscriminate killing of Rhinos, illegal immigration from Bangladeshi, he said, “After May 16, Hum chun chun ke hisab lenge (we will settle each and every account one by one).” He also asserted, if BJP comes at the Centre, it will expedite the creation of National Register of Citizens in Assam, following the SC directive.
On the growing attack on North-Eastern students in New Delhi, Mr Modi said, “Both mother and son came here but they did not have a word of sympathy to the parents and family members of those who suffered in Delhi.”
