Hyderabad: The CID is likely to arrest more people in the case of the leaked PG medical entrance test question paper.The investigating agency has already arrested nine persons, who were sent to the district jail in Vijayawada.
The Crime Investigation Department is said to be inquiring into the possibility of the paper being leaked from the printing press, where the question papers were printed.
The CID officials also grilled some university officials on Sunday. They questioned the NTR University of Health Sciences’ then vice-chancellor, Dr I.V. Rao. The PG-MET question paper was prepared during his tenure.
Students connected with the PG MET question paper leak scam in Guntur district, may also be arrested. The students who had secured ranks below 100 in PG MET, allegedly leaked the question paper, it is learnt.
The erring students will be booked under the A.P. Public Examinations and Malpractices and also the Unfair Act, 1997. Being booked under this section means the accused may not get bail till the completion of three weeks, a senior officer in the department said.
CID officers have questioned the suspected students and their parents and collected the details of their bank accounts, SIM card numbers and email addresses.
They also questioned four junior doctors from Guntur, three from Chilakaluripet and a student from Dharanikota. Doctors and businessmen had purchased the leaked question paper for Rs 60 to Rs 75 lakh to get PG medical seats for their children.
