Dada Saheb for Dasari?
Hyderabad: According to highly reliable sources in the industry, the Telugu directors’ association will be appealing to the National Film Award Committee to consider Dasari Narayana Rao for the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke award.
The sources add that the directors’ association is gathering letters from other association members too. “They are drafting a letter and will be discussing it during the general body meeting of the association on April 13,” says a source.
From the Telugu film industry, Rama Naidu received this prestigious award last year. “We are putting pressure on Rama Naidu to suggest Dasari’s name for this year,” adds a source from the directors association.
A Limca World Record holder for having directed the most number of films (about 150, including Bollywood), Dasari Narayana Rao has also produced 53 movies.
The veteran director has also worked as a dialogue writer for about 250 films and is a recipient of nine Nandi awards.
