Extending President rule is not a problem, says Andhra PradeshGovernor
Hyderabad: Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on Sunday said Parliamentary approval to President’s rule in the state will be a routine administrative exercise.
“There will not be any problem. The Rajya Sabha is there,” he said in an informal chat with mediapersons at Raj Bhavan.
The Governor held high tea on the lawns of Raj Bhavan on the eve of Ugadi.
As per the Constitution, the life of the proclamation of President’s Rule is two months. If it is to continue beyond two months, both Houses of Parliament have to approve the measure with a simple majority.
As the Lok Sabha is not yet dissolved, a special session of Parliament has to be convened to approve President’s rule.
On other issues, the Governor said the government had acted tough on allegations of fraud in medical PG test and unearthed the scam.
Sources in Raj Bhavan said that the entrance examination would be conducted afresh. “It is rational to cancel the exam once it was found that the question paper was leaked.”
