Hyderabad: The male warden of a private girl’s hostel has been accused of molesting minor girl students from Hyderabad Public School in Begumpet.
The hostel warden of Navya Girls Hostel, 60-year-old Narender Goud, was accused of touching the girls inappropriately and misbehaving with them, said the Begumpet police. Following a complaint from Childline, the police has booked a case against the warden.
The incident came to light after the city’s Child Helpline received an anonymous call complaining that hostel inmates in Begumpet are being treated badly by the warden.
“Following the call, Childline officials examined the allegations and found them to be true. Later, they approached us and lodged a complaint,” said Begumpet police inspector G. Basava Reddy.
The complainant alleged that at least six girls were victims of the warden’s misbehaviour. Most of the victims are from different districts like Kurnool, Kadapa and are staying in the hostel while studying in HPS.
Police officials said that as many as 37 girls stay in the hostel. The police booked a case under IPC Section 354 for molestation and under sections of the Protection from Sexual Offences Act.
