Sonam thinks it's an achievement to be a fashion icon in her 20s

Mumbai: On the latest episode of 'Koffee with Karan', host Karan Johar introduced Sonam as "gorgeous and a leading fashionista of the country". Sonam Kapoor smiled in agreement and when asked on managing to find a humongous place in the fashion world, this is what she had to say. She starts talking… (Anil excuses himself to sip a coffee.)

“The biggest movie stars ever in this world were fashion icons, whether it was Audrey Hepburn or Marilyn Monroe, Katharine Hepburn, Meena Kumari, Sharmila Tagore (Karan had to remind her of Rekha). They have always been fashion icons and have set trends. The kind of movies I do, (she lists out almost all movies), they are all girl next door, or real girls. That’s what the thing is… masses like me as this regular normal girl, these are the people who see my films and that’s why they do the kind of business they do. But the classes who read Vogue or watch 'Koffee with Karan' see me as a fashion icon. So I think I am catering to both sides."

It appeared as if Karan almost forgot his next question with his left hand stuck to the chin. He just said ‘right’ before moving on to the next question.

In the later part of the show, Sonam Kapoor also said, "I want to go down in posterity. Being considered as an icon in my 20s, when people in their 40s or after they die are considered icons, I think it's amazing."

Karan joked, "She just called herself an icon,"

In a video interview on that episode, Arjun Kapoor said, “I want her to underdress for an event and be her age.”
