Aam Aadmi Party names candidates for LS polls in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad: Testing political waters for the first time in Telangana and Seemandhra, the Aam Adami Party on Saturday announced their final first list of nine candidates for the Lok Sabha elections.
The AAP picked Vara Prasad, retired IAF squadron leader, to face first timer industrialist Galla Jayadev of the Telugu Desam in Guntur. Party chief Arvind Kejriwal is expected to tour Hyderabad and Guntur districts in the last week of April.
The list is a mix of individuals from various fields including former bureaucrat Chaya Ratan for Secunderabad, Repelle Srinivas, a journalist for Nizamabad and E.D.A. Chennaiah, a social worker, for Bapatla.
The party has fielded Chandana Chakrabarti, a cine actor and scientist in Malkajgiri. This is the first list as far as Telangana and Seemandhra are concerned.
The two states have 42 Lok Sabha constituencies, 17 in Telangana and 25 in Andhra Pradesh.
