Andhra Pradesh fails to guard Wakf land

AP Government had issued an order in June 2002 to protect the Wakf properties

Hyderabad: A petition was moved in the AP High Court on Friday challenging the inaction of the state government in protecting Wakf lands.
Syed Farees Ahmed, a resident of the city, had moved the petition stating that the government had issued GO 374 in June, 2002, to constitute task force at the district-level with senior officers of the revenue and police departments to protect the Wakf properties. He alleged that till date, the GO has not been implemented despite several representations. He urged the court to direct the government to ensure that the task force is formed in all the districts.

PIL against hotel building
A PIL has been filed in the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking a probe through CB-CID into the alleged illegal alienation of government land in favour of AP Tourism Development Corporation and the National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management at Gachibowli.

Human Rights and Consumer Protection Cell, a trust represented by its chairman Thakur Rajkumar Singh, moved the PIL urging the court to declare action of the authorities in continuing the construction of a star hotel at NITHM premises, by destroying a water body, as illegal.
