Llyod’s staff and associates assembled to greet Her majesty and the Duke on their visit

London: Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh visited Lloyd’s to reveal a plaque honouring the market’s 325th anniversary, as reported in the Royal Central.

Llyod’s staff, associates, broker and underwriters assembled to greet Her majesty and the Duke on their visit.

John Nelson, Lloyd’s chairman and Chief Executive Inga Beale escorted The Queen and Prince Philip into the Underwriting Room. In order to commemorate the occasion, Lloyd’s infamous Lutine Bell was pealed twice.

“By tradition the Lutine Bell, has been rung to proclaim important announcements such as the occurrence on the birth of Prince George in 2013,” reports the Royal Central.

After the visit, Her Majesty and the Duke joined the Council and Franchise Board for lunch.

“What a great day it has been for Lloyd’s to welcome HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. There was a wonderful turnout in the Room – I am so pleased that so many people had an opportunity to see or meet the Queen and the Duke. The Royal Family have been great supporters of Lloyd’s throughout our history,” John Nelson posted on the Lloyd’s website.
