EU may block out pirate sites
Internet service providers in Europe may have to block out pirate sites after a court order
Service providers across Europe will have no choice but block all pirate websites pretty soon. Engadget reported that in an Austrian case, the European court of justice has ruled that EU countries can ask their Internet service providers to block all sites that infringe copyright content.
The decision could spell out as a bad move for online free advocates. Individual countries still have to decide whether they will block the pirate sites in the first place. The ISPs are the ones who will indirectly suffer the most since they may have to pay extra for obeying local content restriction orders.
