YSR Congress, TDP fight it out on advertisements
Hyderabad: One is portrayed as a saviour of the masses while the other will ease the life of the middle class. One would dramatically usher in an era where the impoverished would not be denied treatment in private hospitals while the other would provide for the perfect environment for the middle class to live in.
These are the briefs admakers seemed to have worked on while filming television advertisements for the YSR Congress and the Telugu Desam Party.
Advertisements released by the former even announced that “he is coming”, in an apparent reference to YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
With elections a little more than a month away, the war between the two parties has spilled on to the commercial space. Interestingly, it is only these two parties that are active on the political advertisement scene and have released a barrage of ‘low-cost’ ads.
Election authorities informed that only the TDP and the YSRC have been seeking clearances over the past few days from the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee. The cost of making these advertisements are also quite negligible. A. Sri Devasena, deputy chief electoral officer said, “The making costs of the advertisement are very meagre. It is only the cost of airing it on channels that is the major expenditure.”
“Our aim is to show the developmental aspects of our leader,” an advertising strategist with the TDP said. The YSRC ads, on the other hand, aim at the welfare schemes launched by the late YSR during his stint as CM.
