Muslims nervous of Narendra Modi rule!

“We are aware of the communal violence that rocked Gujarat in 2002"

Mangalore: The minorities in the coastal belt of the state are uncertain about BJP Prime Ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi. While they take note his contribution to Gujarat's development, they are concerned about the 2002 riots.

“We are aware of the communal violence that rocked Gujarat in 2002. But it has not seen such riots again. There seems to have been a lot of development there as well,” says Mr B Monu (name changed), a contractor from Bantwal.

But he admits to feeling concerned about his community’s security as the Congress and other parties have drilled into them that minorities are not safe under Mr Modi. “We don’t know if this is true. But as it has been repeatedly told to us we are nervous and there is a sense of insecurity,” he adds.

His friend Sarfaraz , is however willing to give Mr Modi a chance. “We cannot say that we will be under threat if he becomes PM as the Babri Masjid was demolished when P V Narasimha Rao of the Congress was Prime Minister,” he said.
