Quota became bane, say students
Hyderabad: Job reservation considered a boon initially has unfortunately become a bane these days, snatching opportunities of deserving candidates in the name of special categories, complain students of Shadan College of Education.
Factors like recommendation and influence already play a key role in bagging a government job and it often results in losing out on eligible candidates. Therefore, students have asked for a revised job reservation system by whoever forms the next government.
Ms. Shazia Fatima, a B.Ed student said, “For a fresh B.Ed graduate scoring above 75 percent, one needs to crack T.Ed (teachers’ education exam) and then needs to pass the district selection test. Even if these exams are cleared, it is a task to get a government teacher’s job unless one has a godfather. These biased processes ignore a potential candidate. In addition to several exams, there are other hurdles like age limit and reservations that further hit a meritorious individual.”
The next government should revise the entire reservation system so as to provide equal opportunities to meritorious candidates. Many a times, city schools pick untrained teachers whom they pay less in order to increase their earnings.
