Lucknow: A mahapanchayat held in Barsana in Mathura district has banned girls form wearing jeans. The mahapanchayat that issued the diktat was attended by thousands of people from over 52 villages from Uttar Pradesh,
Haryana and Rajasthan.
The order was issued two days ago in a meeting that was attended mostly by people of the Yadav clan. The order was made public by Barsana priest Ram Prasad on Wednesday.
However, girls are upset at the ban on jeans. “On one hand, we have Hema Malini contesting polls from here and on other, we are expected to go back to stone age,” said Anurati Tyagi of Mathura.
