Don’t believe in promises of Chandrababu Naidu, says YSRC’s Sharmila
Hyderabad: YSRC leader Sharmila appealed to the people not to believe in the promises of Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu. Ms Sharmila said that it was Mr Naidu who was responsible for the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
Meanwhile, YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided to shift Y.V. Subba Reddy to Ongole from the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha seat following demands from north Andhra leaders to field Sharmila from there. However, Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy is yet to finalise the Visakhapatnam seat and has kept it open.
Sources in YSRC said that Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy was also looking into the demands of Telangana leaders to give the party’s reigns to Ms Sharmila in the Telangana region.
In a meeting of top YSRC functionaries in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday, it was decided to keep the Vizag seat open for Ms Sharmila in view of the demand from the leaders in the region as well as of the changing dynamics.
A source in YSRC said, “It’s almost final now to move Mr Subba Reddy to Ongole.
Bommireddy Suresh Reddy, the earlier candidate finalised for Ongole, will not be fielded from any seat. Now the Visakhapatnam candidature is to be decided. Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy will take a final decision on Ms Sharmila’s candidature from Vizag or her taking up the party’s reigns in Telangana.”
If Ms Sharmila is given the Vizag LS ticket, Ms Y.S. Vijayalakshmi would be made party in-charge in Telangana.
Meanwhile, the YSRC has shortlisted candidates for the 35 Assembly and four Lok Sabha seats in Telangana.
A source in YSRC said, “We have finalised the names of three freshers for the Zaheerabad, Niza-mabad and Nalgonda Lok Sabha segments. We are going to field Lok Sabha candidates in Chevella, Mahbubnagar, Nagarkur-nool and Mahabubabad.
Khammam has already been finalised and given to Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. We will announce the other names soon.”
Sharmila came down heavily on TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, holding him responsible for state’s bifurcation as he gave consent letter supporting the formation of Telangana state.
Sharmila described Mr Naidu as a liar and added that he would claim all the welfare programmes launched by YSR as his own.
