Sports glitterati descend on Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur: The great and the good, the bold and the beautiful are all lined up to strut their stuff at the 15th edition of the Laureus World Sports Awards night that will unfurl here on Wednesday.
The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, headed by legendary hurdler Edwin Moses, on the day presented a “sports legends football match” as part of the run-up to the awards ceremony that will bring together the cream of sporting talent from around the world.
“Laureus is not just about the awards ceremony, exciting as that is, it is also about the year-round work of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, which uses sport to improve the lives of young people around the world. This is the 15th year of Laureus, and we have helped millions of youngsters in that time,” Moses said.
The 15th World Sports Awards recognise sporting achievement during the calendar year 2013 and the winners, as voted by the Laureus World Sports Academy, will be named at the globally televised event at the Istana Budaya here on Wednesday evening.
Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch will emcee the evening that will also feature performances from Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx and a host of other talent.
