Elections 2014: YSR Congress pins hopes on defectors

YSRC is very strong in Khammam district and is expecting most of its victories to come from there

Hyderabad: The YSR Congress is now pinning its hope on defectors from other parties in Telangana who don’t get tickets, to join it. The party has no candidates in a majority of Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies in Telangana except Khammam, Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Mahbubnagar and Nalgonda. Out of 119 Assembly seats, the party has only candidates for 45 seats.

The YSRC is very strong in Khammam district and is expecting most of its victories to come from there. The YSRC claims that it is still a formidable force in five South Telangana districts.

Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy and Y.V. Subba Reddy of the party’s election co-ordination committee who met aspirants and leaders from the Telangana region, decided to focus on south Telangana.

A top functionary of the party who took part in the meeting said, “We still have cadre in Telangana. Our hopes are still alive in more than 45 constituencies. They are going to fight the polls seriously. We are also good in parts of Medak apart from the five districts.”
