CM Siddaramaiah's ‘outsider’ punch for Sadananda Gowda

CM likens Sadananda Gowda to Modi, says both encroach on others’ seats

Bengaluru: Describing former chief minister, D. V. Sadananda Gowda as an ‘outsider’ in Bangalore North parliamentary constituency, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday lashed out at the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi saying that as a person, he has scant respect for elders in the party and believes in encroaching on others’ seats.

Speaking at the party’s campaign rally in Bangalore North constituency here, Mr Siddaramaiah quipped, “One can draw similarities between Mr Modi and Mr Gowda, who have encroached on seats by ousting and hurting senior leaders in their parties.”

He quickly added that the Congress party has fielded C. Narayanaswamy, who hails from this constituency and deserves a chance against Mr Gowda this time. “Although, Mr Gowda was chief minister he never bothered about the wholesome development of Bengaluru. His period as CM was forgettable for Bengaluru citizens in particular and the state’s electorates in general, as his regime witnessed unprecedented incidents with his cabinet colleagues watching porn video on the floor of the house in the Assembly, when Congress leaders were trying to draw the attention of the government to drought related issues in the state. He may not be directly involved in the incident, but his regime was one of the worst,” he said criticising the former CM.

According to him, the BJP was a party of corrupt personalities. “Former chief minister, B.S. Yeddyurappa is synonymous with corruption while his followers like M.P. Renukacharya and H. Halappa are best known for their womanising skills. Can the electorate choose the same party, which had scant respect for womanhood?” he asked.
