Burning effigies, crackers against Poll Code
WARANGAL: While burning effigies and bursting crackers would symbolise an act of protest or celebration in normal circumstances, those taking up such activities these days are landing into trouble, thanks to the Model Code of Conduct being enforced.
Both the Intezarganj and Mills Colony police stations in the city registered cases against two caste based groups for celebrating the entry of ex-MLA Konda Surekha and her husband Konda Murali into the TRS by bursting crackers in Warangal East constituency recently.
Their celebration attracted Sections 285 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter) and 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the IPC respectively.
A case was also booked against unidentified students for burning TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s effigy soon after he announced the entry of the Konda couple into the party.
