Assembly polls keep teachers away from SSC duties

There’s a severe staff crunch for the SSC public exams

Hyderabad: There’s a severe staff crunch for the SSC public exams that are scheduled to commence from March 27, as teachers are busy with election duties.
Though there is not much problem in the GHMC limits with no polls to local bodies here, all the other districts in the state going for municipal and ZPTC/MPTC elections are facing shortage of teachers.

Nearly 80 per cent of the 3 lakh teachers in the state are undergoing training in election duties for local body polls, making it difficult for the SSC Board to assign them exam duties. The Board is thus exploring various options like utilising students from nearby colleges for exam duties in the absence of teachers.

As many as 12,26,460 students have registered for SSC exams this year. The exams will be held from March 27 to April 25. SSC Board director B. Manmadha Reddy, said, “We are taking all measures to ensure the smooth conduct of exams.Though there is a shortage of exam staff, we are exploring alternatives.”

He said spot valuation would commence from April 15. The results would be announced by May 20. The exams will be held from 9.30am to 12 noon.
