Ducati’s new bike jacket is an airbag

Bikes having an airbag are something you cannot imagine. However, you could be wearing a protective jacket, which turns into an airbag in case you fall or crash. Well, this is not fiction anymore, and Ducati has made it a real thing.

Engadget reported that Ducati had teamed up with Dianese to develop the new jacket, which will safeguard your shoulders and arms in case of an accident.

Ducati Multistrada D-Air, as it is known as, has sensors in the electronics of the bike, which monitors acceleration breaking and orientation. The moment it detects that you are about to crash, the bike’s electronics will trigger the jacket via Wi-Fi, and the jacket’s electronics will deploy the airbag before you hit the asphalt.

The first version of the bike and the jacket will hit the stores in May all over Europe.
