Election rush at centres
Hyderabad: With March 30 being last date for electoral enrollment in Telangana region for eligible voters, there is heavy rush at service providing centres like MeeSeva.
However, the same rush is lacking in the local election offices where similar services are provided Owing to heavy rush of voters, certain MeeSeva centres are fleecing the voters.
“I have come to get my family’s voter ID cards done here since the last date is just less than a week. However, I had to pay Rs 200 for four voter ID cards at Quthubullapur MeeSeva centre. I know they are charging more but I don’t want to take chances as they would not be responsible.
According to officials at the state chief electoral officer, the service centres should ideally charge Rs 25 for the EPIC, that is Rs 10 for the card and Rs 15 for the service.
“Voters need not pay more than Rs 25 when it is clearly mentioned,” said . Bhanwar Lal, AP chief electoral officer.
Existing voters can approach the election office for any corrections in their names or addresses on the cards. Between 10am and 5pm, both applicants and existing card holders can come to the election office.
