Congress slams West Bengal government for denying permission for Rahul Gandhi's rally

Congress reprehends state government's 'vindictive' attitude in denying permission

Kolkata: West Bengal Congress president Adhir Chowdhury on Tuesday reprehended the state government's 'vindictive' attitude in denying permission to hold the Congress workers' meeting, to be addressed by Rahul Gandhi, at the venues requested for.

The party wanted either the Netaji Indoor Stadium or the Park Circus Maidan in the city to hold the meeting. Now the meeting has been scheduled to be held at the base of the Shahid Minar at Esplanade.

"The state government run by Mamata Banerjee didn't give us permission to hold the meeting at the venues we wanted. It is so vindictive. They may have forgotten that Rahul gandhi is the son of Rajiv Gandhi who had helped Banerjee during her initial years in politics," he remarked.

Chowdhury also attacked TMC candidate from Bankura, Moon Moon sen for trying to gain sympathy by invoking the name of her late mother and legendary actress Suchitra Sen.
