Call to increase Andhra Pradesh districts to 24
Vijayawada: The number of districts in residuary AP should be increased to 24 and administration should be decentralised for the development of the region, observed AP Congress Committee president N. Raghuveera Reddy on Monday.
Expressing regrets over state bifurcation before the media here, Mr Reddy said the Congress would bring out a vision document for integrated development of the region.
Mr Reddy said he would act as a coordinator to develop team spirit among the Congress men so that the residuary AP becomes the No. 1 state in the country.
The APCC chief said the party leadership would try to convince the cadre on the reasons for bifurcating Andhra Pradesh so that they pass on the message to the common man. He said that the second and third grade leaders of the party were eager to contest the elections and there was no dearth of candidates.
Mr Reddy said that the Congress was an eternal organisation and the party would exist, either in, or out of power as long as India exists.
Mr Reddy said that Congress would swim like a fish in a strong wave coming from opposite direction and stand like an elephant, despite opposition.
Condemning the defections, he said that those who ditched the party after enjoying posts, without thinking of the party cadre should not be tolerated. He said that the Congress would retain its traditional vote bank by winning support from all sections of people.
