Hyderabad: small-time Tollywood actor held for attempted murder
Hyderabad: An upcoming Tollywood artiste, who usually plays small-time villain roles, was arrested by the West Zone police on Monday for attempted murder.
The police arrested Abdul Rahman, alias Baba, 34, for trying to kill Mohammed Fayaaz about a week ago. The police said that the accused had been earlier evicted from a house that belonged to the victim. Bearing a grudge, Rahman plotted to kill Mr Fayaaz.
Rahman, who is mostly seen in supporting roles of goons, is a resident of Vijayanagar Colony in Masab Tank. He was earlier renting a house at Road No. 12, Banjara Hills, which belongs to Mr Fayaaz’s sister-in-law Salma Nawaz. He had been evicted from the house for creating nuisance.
“He was a tenant and would return home at odd hours after his shoots. He also misbehaved with the victim’s sister-in-law. A complaint was lodged at the Banjara Hills police station about six months ago. He was also thrashed by Mr Fayaaz’s family members for his indecent acts. Counter cases were registered by both parties,” said V. Satyanarayana, the deputy commissioner of police, West Zone.
On the evening of March 16, Mr Fayaaz came to an automobile repair shop in Masab Tank. Rahman took the opportunity and attacked him with a sharp weapon near D.S.S. Bhavan, opposite Chacha Nehru Park in Masab Tank and fled. “Mr Fayaaz sustained multiple stab wounds at various parts on his body and was shifted to the Care Hospitals and is being treated,” Mr Satyanarayana said. Rahman, who was hiding in Pahadishareef, was arrested on Monday by the task force team.
