Tollywood actor Nanduri Uday Kiran caught buying cocaine
Hyderabad: Tollywood actor Nanduri Uday Kiran was arrested at the Jubilee Hills check post while trying to buy cocaine from a Nigerian on Monday.
Police said the Nigerian, Rotimi Olusola Kehinde, 29, would bring drugs from Delhi to sell in the city. Uday Kiran, who has acted in Telugu films like Parare, Rakshakulu, Yuvarajyam, and Facebook, had been in touch with the drug peddler for the last few months. Police officials have seized 15 gm of drugs from both the accused along with Rs 4,000 in cash.
Additional DCP of Task Force, Limba Reddy said that the police was verifying the drug peddlers’ Tollywood connections.
“Uday was alone in this drug transaction, however we are verifying if any other people from Tollywood are involved,” he said.
Police officials said that Kehinde developed local contacts and was trafficking narcotics in the city.
“A drug peddler named Hakeem, a Sudanese native, supplied the drugs to Kehinde in Delhi. He bought cocaine for Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000 per gram depending on the needs of the customers in Hyderabad,” said Mr Limba Reddy.
