Microsoft to close Nokia buyout deal by April
The $7.2 billion dollar deal will not be finalised this month, but only by end of April
Nokia and Microsoft have finally announced that the buyout deal worth $7.2 billion won't be finalised this month after all. Nokia expects to complete the sale of its devices and services divisions to Microsoft only by the end of April instead of March.
The Verge reported that Nokia is still waiting on regulatory approval from the antitrust authorities in Asia. The US Justice Department and the European Commission has given a go-ahead earlier. Microsoft will use its new acquisition and will design its own Windows-based smartphones, once the deal is complete. Microsoft will no longer rely on Nokia to manufacture its flagship Windows Phones as a third-party handset.
