Ragini MMS 2 in a safe zone for Balaji Productions
Two things were expected from Ragini MMS 2 — a better opening than its prequel and one that would beat the openings of several mid-budget releases earlier this year. The film seems to have met these expectations as it opened better than Highway, Hasee Toh Phasee, Shaadi Ke Side Effects and Queen.
With over Rs 8 crores coming in on Friday, followed by a good collection on Saturday and Sunday, the earnings came close to the Rs 23 crore mark. For Balaji, the film is now in a safe zone. Even if the collections over the week drop by 50 per cent, the film will gain “superhit” status in just one week. For director Bhushan Patel, this film is his second success after 1920-Evil Returns.
The other release of the week Gang Of Ghosts couldn’t even come close. While it was expected that the film would gain a family audience, it turned out Queen was their first choice. Aankhon Dekhi and Lakshmi got good reviews but no audience.
