Narendra Modi- Pawan Kalyan meet hurts brother Chiranjeevi
Visakhapatnam: A day after film actor Pawan Kalyan, leader of the Jana Sena, met BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, the actor’s elder brother and Union minister K. Chiranjeevi said he was surprised to learn about the meeting.
Mr Chiranjeevi said of what he knew of his brother, Pawan was secular. Therefore he was surprised to know that he had met Mr Modi, who oversaw the Gujarat riots of 2002.
It would have been appropriate if Pawan had met Mr Modi after seeking the latter's clarification on the Gujarat killings, Mr Chiranjeevi said. He was speaking at a Meet the Press organised by the Vizag Journalists Forum.
“Only (BJP president) Rajnath Singh tried to give some clarification on the riots, but there is no attempt from Mr Modi. I don’t know whether my brother knows that or not," Mr Chiranjeevi said.
The minister denied any rift in his family and said they are all united. He also said that Pawan had never objected or expressed displeasure over his decision to merge the Praja Rajyam with the Congress.
