Elections 2014: Seemandhra BJP ready to contest all seats, says Hari Babu
Vijayawada: Newly-appointed president of the BJP’s unit for residuary Andhra Pradesh K. Hari Babu said that the party was ready to contest all the 175 Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats in the state if talks over electoral alliance with other parties fail.
Speaking to the media here on Saturday, Mr Hari Babu said that discussions were underway between the state and central leaders of the BJP and of the Telugu Desam. “Talks are on, but the question of seat sharing is very crucial in finalising any electoral alliance,” he said.
Mr Hari Babu hoped that the alliance would be finalised within the next four days or the BJP would take steps to contest all the constituencies. He said that the BJP state and central leadership would tour the Seemandhra region from March 25 to campaign for the party’s candidates contesting the municipal, mandal and zilla parishad elections.
“The BJP will come to power under the leadership of Narendra Modi and it is the only party that can develop the region,” Mr Hari Babu said, claiming that the party was gaining strength day by day.
Mr Hari Babu was appointed as chairman of the BJP’s election committee and former Union minister Daggubati Purandeswari chairman of the party’s campaign committee.
