Kangana Ranaut turns 27
With some serious roles, Kangana made it a point to turn her career around
New Delhi: Queen of tinsel town, Kangana Ranaut turns 27 today! She started her B-town career with movie 'Gangster' in 2006. Later she acted in films like 'Woh Lamhe' and 'Fashion'. However, when people started considering her an actor mainly apt for intense and serious roles, Kangana made it a point to turn her career around.
Born into a rajput family, the actress took to modelling just after a few months of college. Ranaut started her career as a theatre actor in Delhi with Asmita Theatre Group. She trained under eminent theatre director Arvind Gaur.
Producers Ramesh Sharma and Pahlaj Nilani had signed Kangana for a film titles 'I love You Boss' in 2004. The following year, director Anurag Basu discovered the talented actress in a coffee shop in Mumbai and offered her a chance to audition for the lead role in his movie ' Gangster'. She was confirmed after over 20 audition rounds and subsequently opted out of 'I Love You Boss' to be a part of 'Gangster'.
Ranaut was cast in the central role of an alcoholic women in a romantic love triangle, between actors, Shiney Ahuja and Emraan Hashmi. Kangana was only 17 at that time and said, she had difficulty in understanding the unwinding from the charecter describing herself as 'raw and immature'.
27 films later the actress has come a long way and has a number of up-coming projects lined up, including Sujoy Ghoh's next ' Durga Rani Singh'.
