LS polls: 'Book war’ intensifies in Uttar Pradesh, Narendra Modi leads race
Lucknow: For the first time, perhaps, books on three prime ministerial candidates, Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal have started flooding the market. The fastest selling books are the ones on Mr Modi, his life, his career, his philosophy and even his speeches.
According to a leading book seller, some of the books on Mr Modi that are doing brisk business include Narendra Modi, the man, the times by Nilanjan Mukhopadhyaya, The fiction of fact finding Modi and Godhra by Manoj Mitta, The Man of the Monet, Narendra Modi by M.V. Kamath and Kalindi Randeri, Narendra Modi, Modernity and remaking of Gujarat by Christophe Jaffrelot, Narendra Modi, Yes He Can by D.P. Singh and Narendra Modi, the game changer by Sudesh Verma.
AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal also has around six books on him. Apart from Swaraj written by Mr Kejriwal himself, the books on the racks include Rise of Arvind Kejriwal by Amit Sachdeva, Arvind Kejriwal, A man with mission by Aman Kumar, Arvind Kejriwal into the heaven of freedom by Rashmi Bansal and three other titles in Hindi.
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi has four books that include Decoding Rahul Gandhi by Aarti Ramchandran, Rahul Gandhi, Aspiration of India by A.K. Singh, Rahul Gandhi , Experiment with Indian Society by N. Laxmipriya and Rahul by Jatin Gandhi and Veenu Sandhu.
Rashmi Khurana, manager of a chain of bookstores, says, “This is the first time that the demand for these books has risen so sharply.”
