VS Achuthanandan to knock at HC door for CBI probe in Solar case

Acthunandan wants to send out a message that his fight against corruption would continue

THIRUANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader V.S. Achuthanandan will move the high court next week seeking a CBI probe into the multi-crore solar fraud.
Sources close to him said that leading Supreme Court lawyer Shekhar Naphade would appear for him. His move is aimed at bringing the solar case into focus during the election campaign thereby boosting the LDF's prospects. The party is also backing Mr Achuthanandan to go ahead with the legal battle.

A CBI probe is being demanded on the pretext that the special investigation team which went into the case failed to probe effectively the allegations against the chief minister’s and ministers’ offices, their telephone calls and that of their staff.

As the move comes close on the heels of his statement defending Mr Pinarayi Vijayan in the SNC-Lavalin case and his U-turn in the TPC murder case, VS now wants to send out a message that his fight against corruption would continue. By doing a volte face on Lavalin and the TPC murder case, VS has annoyed a big section of people within and outside the party which had supported him all along.
