Hyderabad: Justice P. Naveen Rao of the AP High Court on Friday extended till April 3 the interim order granted against the decision of the Army to block major roads of Secunderabad Cantonment area.
While extending the stay, the judge directed the AOC commander to take the initiative to hold a meeting within a week with the GHMC commissioner, Hyderabad collector, additional commissioner of police (traffic), Hyderabad and Cyberabad, chief executive officer of the Secunderabad Cantonment Board and Army station commander, to look into the issue and find an amicable solution.
The judge directed the AOC commander to submit a report before the court before the next hearing. He was dealing with a batch of petitions challenging the decision of the Army to stop civilians from using the roads from February 25.
On February 28 the court had granted an interim order directing the Union Cabinet secretary and officer commanding the station/sector commander not to impose restrictions on five major roads till March 6. The stay was extended to March 10, and now to April 3.
The roads in question are, from SP Road/East Marredpally towards Allahabad Gate (Entrenchment Road), from Secunderabad Club, Picket/West Marredpally towards Wellington Enclave (Wellington Road), from Safilguda junction towards Safilguda railway crossing (Ordnance Road) and Trimulgherry Han-uman temple to Gough Road (Mornington Road) and Kendriya Vidyalaya crossing to East/West Marredpally (Gough Road).
