TRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao says no to Seemandhra staff staff options

KCR said no “options” should be given to Seemandhra staff to work in Telangana

Hyderabad: TRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao once again made controversial remarks with regard to giving “options” to government employees from Seemandhra region and Polavaram project.

He said no “options” should be given to Seemandhra staff to work in Telangana. He reiterated that they should be allowed to work only under Seemandhra government.

The TRS chief stated that if options were given to Seemandhra staff, majority of them would opt for Hyderabad and surrounding districts denying opportunities to Telangana employees and added that achieving a separate Telangana state would make no sense. He also stated that the TRS will not allow construction of Polavaram project in the present form and villages in Khammam district that face the risk of submergence on account of the project should be merged with Telangana against the Centre’s plan to merge them with Seemandhra. He also said that water reserves should be released to Seemandhra irrigation projects only after projects in Telangana attain full levels. Mr Rao made these remarks while addressing party leaders and activists at the TRS Bhavan after leaders from other parties from Maheshwaram, Bodhan and Zaheerabad joined his party.

Mr Rao’s earlier comments on not giving “options” to Seemandhra employees that were made immediately after UPA government announced it’s decision in favour of bifurcation of state in August last year, created a furore.

Seemandhra staff and leaders from the region vehemently opposed his remarks, forcing him to issue a clarification that he was misinterpreted.
