All parties were supportive of Telengana, asserts Chiranjeevi
Hyderabad: It’s a peculiar problem Mr Chiranjeevi faces of convincing the electorate in the coming polls to vote for the Congress while being a staunch integrationist himself. Film star-turned-Congress chief campaigner in Seemandhra, Mr Chiranjeevi says that the parties that are now trying to project themselves as saviours of the people are the real culprits.
He says there is no party in Seemandhra that has not supported the division of the state. He asserts that the Kapus would never ditch the Congress despite several Kapu leaders deserting it.
Speaking exclusively to this newspaper, Mr Chiranjeevi says that his younger brother, actor Pawan Kalyan, had promised to talk to him before launching his Jana Sena, but did not keep his word. He also unequivocally voices his commitment to the Congress and said that it was the only party that practiced secularism and social justice, two qualities that are the reasons behind him continuing in the party.
Stating that it was the Telugu Desam and the YSR Congress that demanded the division of the state, Mr Chiranjeevi said that there was tremendous pressure on the Congress to concede the demand.
