TRS bags folklore artiste Balakishen, gives ticket
Hyderabad: The TRS has won the battle with the Congress to bag Telangana folklore artist Rasamay Balakishen. He will be contesting on a TRS ticket from the Makonduru Assembly seat in Karimnagar district.
Both parties have stepped up efforts to get the maximum number of TJAC leaders and leaders of cultural and community organisations on their side. Special teams have been constituted by both the parties to reach out to popular leaders and offer them tickets to contest the elections.
Mr Rasamay Balakishen arrived at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday and joined the party in the presence of its leader Mr K. Chandrasekhara Rao. The TRS chief also formally admitted Telangana Gazetted Officers’ Association president V. Srinivas Goud into the party, and offered him the Mahbubnagar Assembly seat.
Mr Jaipal Yadav, a two-term Congress MLA from the Kalwakurthy in Mahbubnagar district, has also joined the TRS. He will contest on a TRS ticket. The Congress was successful in netting Mr Addanki Dayakar, president of the TJAC Dalit Organisation, and offered him Tungaturhy in Nalgonda district.
KCR said that development of Telangana would be possible only if the TRS is at the helm. “We fought for Telangana. We should be the ruling party to develop the state and reconstruct it. It is not proper to keep the weapon in someone else’s hand and ask another to fight. Our demand that the TRS should be in power is quite justified,” Mr Rao said.
