Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa refutes ‘Karseva’ charge

Karunanidhi repeating the lie in Nazi style propaganda, says CM Jayalalithaa

Thoothukudi: Rejecting DMK’s charge that she had sent volunteers to Karseva in Ayodhya in December 1992, AIADMK supremo and chief minister Jayalalithaa on Saturday slammed DMK chief Karunanidhi of repeating the ‘lie’ in Goebbelsian style.

“If Karunanidhi continues to repeat lies like Goebbel, he will meet the same fate as Goebbel,” she said at a mammoth poll rally here. CM was referring to the controversial Nazi propaganda minister Paul Joseph Goebbels who had followed the principle that a lie could be made as truth by repeating it a thousand times. The DMK chief was deliberately misleading people with lies, she said.

She said Karunanidhi had made the same allegation, that she had sent Karsevaks to Ayodhya, many times despite her denials. “I can state categorically that the AIADMK had not sent anybody for the Karseva,” she said, challenging the DMK chief to name her Karsevaks.

Ms Jayalalithaa referred to another allegation of Karunanidhi that she was telling ‘lies’ on grant of quota for religious minorities and said it was she who had sown the seed for giving reservation for the minorities during her government in 2006. The state backward classes commission was then reconstituted and the quota issue was brought within its purview.

“I had stated only the truth when I said it was the AIADMK government which, for the first time, included a provision for quota for religious minorities in the recommendation to the commission.” Those efforts led to giving the quota to minorities later in 2007 (DMK regime), she pointed out.

She charged Karunanidhi of changing colours “like a chameleon” on the issue of retail FDI whereas the AIADMK remained committed to opposing it. “When the AIADMK gets the opportunity to evolve the policies at the Centre, thanks to your vote in this election, I promise you FDI in retail will be rooted out,” she said.
She said the DMK chief was trying to fool the TN electorate by releasing an election manifesto that was “just a bunch of lies packed into 90 pages” and was nothing but a list of things that the DMK and Karunanidhi failed to do during their 17 years of association in the Union government.
