It is very difficult to bury Congress, says Chiranjeevi
HYDERABAD: Reacting to his brother Pawan Kalyan’s call, Congress Hatao, Desh Bachao, Union minister K. Chiranjeevi said nobody can destroy and bury the 127 year old Congress.
Speaking to the media on Saturday at Gandhi Bhavan, Mr Chiranjeevi said many leaders and parties in the past had said that they would bury the Congress, but nothing of the sort happened.
Mr Chiranjeevi stopped short of criticising his brother. He merely said, Pawan is a very sensitive person. Carried away by emotion, he spoke like that.
For one thing, I am happy that Pavan said that he is an Indian and the Congress fought for independence and enabled him (Pavan) to claim that he is an Indian. He said the Congress has brought many revolutionary changes like nationalisation of banks and others.
Mr Chiranjeevi said, Pawan has only said the Congress proceeded in a hurry with the state bifurcation process and there is nothing wrong in his allegation.
He said that if the Congress was wrong on the state bifurcation, then all other parties had also erred. If someone points a finger at the Congress, they should also take into account the other parties, the Union minister said.
He defended the Congress by stating that it was actually the last party to take a decision on bifurcation; its decision came only after all the other parties had opined in favour Telangana statehood
Replying to a question, Mr Chiranjeevi said, I don’t know the policy and ideology of Pawan’s party, but Pawan has every right to float a political party.
He clarified that Pawan did not discuss launching the party with him. So we would have to wait to see how Pawan will do service to the people.
