Down to the science

The Alapati family’s house has gorgeous interiors that also serve a purpose

The Alapati family apartment has been lovingly crafted into a welcoming and aesthetically pleasing home. Alapati Srilakshmi Narayana, a famous poet and media consultant, his wife Ramadevi, elder son Srikar and his wife Ahladini and younger son Subhakar and his wife Madhuneha stay in the sprawling 3,777 sft apartment. Their home is special because of the details that have been attended to carefully. It is evident that a lot of thought and care has gone into the house.

Right next to the entrance is a glass door that opens to a private seating area with a bar. There is an adjoining balcony that the room opens out to. This is planned in such a way that the balcony can be approached without disturbing the rest of the family.

“We wanted a separate area where we can host parties for our friends. Our parents also stay in the house and we wouldn’t want to disturb them,” says Srikar. The room has also been made completely acoustic as they plan to transform it into a home theatre soon.

The huge living area next to the first seating room is proof of the space that that they got when they clubbed two three-BHK apartments.
Special touches are evident in several places. The false ceiling in each room has a different design pattern accentuating the aesthetic appeal of the home and they have a practical role too.

“We are on the topmost floor and it tends to get really hot during summer. So we decided to have a two-layer false ceiling and thus we are insulated from extreme temperatures,” says Subhakar.

The family has a solar water heating system and a water softener that converts hard water into soft water. A pressure pump has also been installed to ensure that they have the kind of ‘bubble’ water flow often found in luxury hotels. The house has around 300 lights that cater to their needs of having different kind of lightings.
