Mollywood blockbuster Drishyam has been in news ever since the Tamil and Telugu remakes were announced. The news became big when Kamal Haasan was officially brought on board to reprise Mohan Lal in Tamil remake which was confirmed to this newspaper, by its maker Suresh Balaji. There was a huge buzz surrounding who would reprise Meena’s role, as Kamal’s heroine. Names like Simran, Meena (who played in the original), Nadhiya were considered, but later it fizzled out as Suresh maintained that they have not finalised anyone and Simran denying (through an official note), that she was not a part of the project.
If sources are to be believed, then it is a coup of sorts for Jeethu Joseph who is directing the movie in K’town as well. Rumour is that Gauthami who has sizzled alongside of Kamal in films like Apoorva Sahodarargal, Thevar Magan, Kurudhipulal is being considered for the role of the latter’s wife in the Tamil remake of Drishyam. The duo has been in a live-in-relationship for the last few years and Gauthami made a comeback as a costume designer for many of Kamal’s films.
Sources add that Nadhiya will be seen in the crucial character of the police officer which was played by Asha Sharat in Malayalam.
