Jayalalithaa takes dig at DMK’s 2G tainted men in 2014 Lok Sabha polls

She appealed to throw out the “corrupt, family rule” of the Congress-led government

kangeyam: AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa on Thursday slammed DMK president M.Karunanidhi for fielding the tainted former Telecom ministers A. Raja and Dayanidhi Maran in the Lok Sabha election.

Addressing a massive election rally, Jayalalithaa ridiculed DMK chief’s assertion that the corruption cases against Raja and Dayanidhi Maran were “doddering” due to lack of evidence.

“Karunanidhi had not said that the tainted Raja and Dayanidhi Maran were not corrupt. He has only said there was not enough evidence against them,” she said while launching into a fiery attack on the DMK on the 2G spectrum scandal. She said Karunanidhi was trying to “deceive” the people of Tamil Nadu by shielding and defending the tainted A.Raja in Nilgiris and Dayanidhi Maran in Central Chennai constituencies.

“In 2011, the people of Tamil Nadu, heeding my appeal, threw out the “corrupt and anti-people” DMK,” she said. “Now, will you throw out the Congress which has wrecked the country for the last 10 years? Will you teach a lesson to the Congress and the DMK which jointly wreaked havoc on the nation?” she asked. And a wave of “yes” swept across the rally ground near the Four Road Junction at Kangeyam where she campaigned in support of her party candidate in Erode Parliamentary constituency, Selvakumara Chinnaiyan.

As Tamil Nadu witnesses an unprecedented multi-cornered fight, MS Jayalalithaa also appealed to the people of Tamil Nadu not to “fritter away or scatter” their votes but back the AIADMK for a “stronger India”.

She called on the electorate to throw out the “corrupt, family rule” of the Congress-led government at the Centre.
In a 40 minute speech peppered with interactive questions to the large crowds, she asked, “Will you throw out the corrupt Government at the Centre?”

Instantly, the crowd responded with a thunderous “yes”. Several parties and alliances were contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. However, only an AIADMK-inclusive government at the Centre can forge a strong India. “This is a crucial election that will shape the destiny of India. So, do not waste away your votes on other parties,” she appealed.

Ms Jayalalithaa also promised to unveil a statue for the famous Kongu chieftain, Kalingarayar, who built the Kalingarayan canal that irrigates Erode farms and assured the peasants and farmers that her government would not take any “anti-farmer” measures.
